Which Massage is Right for Me?

HEAD, NECK, BACK & SHOULDERS TENSION MASSAGE (30-minute treatment)

This massage is the same as the neck, back and shoulder tension massage but includes the scalp.  Massaging the head can help reduce migraines by promoting better blood circulation, which reduces pressure in the head. Studies have found that patients with ongoing migraines experienced a dramatic decrease in headache pain with neck and shoulder massage treatment.

NECK, BACK & SHOULDER TENSION MASSAGE

(30-minute treatment)

This is an indulgent massage treatment that you should book right now!  Studies have shown remarkable physical, mental and emotional benefits of a 30 minute back, shoulder and neck massage therapy because our daily activities, such as writing, typing on the computer and driving, can cause stress on the body.  Our shoulders tend to raise and tighten up when we are busy doing our work and so a relaxing back, shoulder and neck massage therapy will apply pressure on the soft tissue around your neck, shoulders and back to reduce muscular tension and ease day-to-day stress. These parts are continually holding up our body, no wonder why they feel tense!

This treatment will help reduce muscle soreness and encourage increased blood flow and oxygen, which helps soothes pain and reduces inflammation. After this treatment, you may find your range of motion will also improve due to the removal of build-up lactic acid, which causes stiffness in muscles.

RELAXATION MASSAGE

(60 or 90-minute treatment)

A relaxation massage is designed to be precisely that.  An energising yet relaxing massage that incorporates classic strokes and techniques, focusing on the back, neck, shoulders, head, face, legs, feet, arms and hands.

Relaxation massage has significant physiological benefits and is a whole-body hands-on treatment that uses pressure, stroking and rubbing of your skin to help you relax.

It is very effective in relieving joint stiffness and pain and promoting suppleness in the muscles as well as improving sleep quality.

It will include long, luxurious massage techniques including long strokes, gentle kneading and rolling of skin and muscle and is a great excuse to allow yourself to be pampered and spoiled.

The relaxation massage will help relieve stress and tension in your muscles and will leave you oozing with a sense of wellbeing by improving circulation.  It will flood your organs and skin with more oxygen, and it will help move fluid through your lymphatic system to help encourage your body to rid itself of its toxins.

My relaxation massage treatment has been specially developed and designed to help you to thoroughly relax. It relieves stress and anxiety, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and it is one of the most complete and indulgent massages you can get!

DEEP TISSUE (REMEDIAL) MASSAGE

(60 or 90-minute treatment)

Deep tissue massage is a clinical treatment used for a specific therapeutic effect. Orthopaedic conditions such as back pain, arthritis, neck stiffness, frozen shoulder, sciatica and knee injuries, and general muscular aches and pains respond well to deep tissue massage.

Before the massage, we will examine and discuss the areas of the body, which are causing dysfunctional pain or tension, and the massage will focus entirely on these areas to help aid recovery.  Reduction of muscle tension and release of soft tissue in one area will often produce favourable changes in the body’s overall alignment and balance.

Deep tissue massage tends to be more in-depth and much more targeted; although the long, slow and gentle strokes associated with a classic massage may be incorporated to help relax you and prepare the area that you would like worked on.

A variety of manual therapy techniques are employed to manage musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, including soft tissue release, trigger point therapy and joint mobilisation.

Deep tissue massage aids recovery and helps increase mobility, reduce pain and improve rehabilitation.

You don’t have to have an injury to benefit from Deep Tissue Massage. Prevention is better than cure, and a regular “tune-up” can enhance the performance of sportspeople and helps anyone achieve optimum health.

SPORTS MASSAGE

(60 or 90-minute treatment)

A sports massage can help to improve performance, prevent injury, and aid recovery by reducing muscle tension and promoting flexibility. It is beneficial to all who play sport, from those who have just taken up exercise or are preparing for the first race to elite or seasoned athletes.

The techniques used and the benefits of a sports massage will vary, depending on your needs:

Pre-event massage is brisk and stimulating, to loosen up muscles and prepare the mind and body for sports performance. It can be performed anything from a couple of days to immediately before an event and can be an excellent way for you to prepare for your first athletic endeavour or race if you are feeling tense or nervous.

Post-event massage is a critical way to help your body to calm down and recover from the stress and strain of a sports event. The soft tissue is stretched and relaxed, returning muscle tension to normal. It can decrease inflammation and speed up recovery time considerably.

Sports massage should also be considered for athletic musculoskeletal maintenance.  I can help ensure that between training sessions, your muscles remain flexible and together we can help break down minor injuries and lesions that occur from overexertion. This will enable you to train with less chance of becoming injured, and can also help with relaxation, flexibility, energy levels and motivation.

Rehabilitation If you are suffering from an injury, a variety of techniques including massage and joint mobilisation are carried out to alleviate pain and return the body back to its normal range of movement.

RUNNERS MASSAGE (60 minute or 90-minute treatment)

A massage designed for those that love to run. The 60 or 90-minute full leg, Gluteal and foot massage may help to improve performance, prevent injury, and aid recovery by reducing muscle tension and promoting flexibility. Prevention is better than Cure after all!

Lower Legs: Loosening off the Calf muscles – a key area where tension builds up preventing muscle optimisation. Let’s loosen off the calf (gastrocnemius and soleus) muscles to encourage a PB!

Upper Legs and Gluteals: Hip pain and discomfort can be decreased by reducing tension that can build up in the quad/hamstring and gluteal muscles.

Feet: Plantar Fasciitis can present itself if the fascia becomes stressed and tight. In order to prevent this painful injury, the massage will loosen off the fascia to encourage greater flexibility and suppleness.

THE ‘ULTIMATE’ INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

(60-minute treatment which works the back, shoulders, neck, head & face)

This treatment offers a deep sense of relaxation.

It is a form of massage therapy created in India thousands of years ago derived from the Ayurvedic tradition that focuses on the head, shoulders and neck. This ‘Ultimate’ version takes place on the massage couch, (rather than seated), to encourage deep relaxation AND incorporates the back muscles which can hold a lot of tension due to stress and poor posture. Through a variety of different techniques, the massage works to release any blocked negative energy that the body is holding. It does so by applying pressure (acupressure) to help unblock the Chakras and allows for a free flow of energy around the body, rejuvenation and feelings of wellbeing.

The massage is a 60-minute, oil-based massage. Starting at the back; pressures are applied to points that dissolve knots and relax the muscles, then moving to the shoulders and upper arms to release other common areas of tension, and to the neck and head to release headache-causing blockages and to encourage better circulation of the cerebral fluid. The massage then progresses to the scalp, relaxing the entire head, encouraging circulation and stimulating hair growth. Lastly, a gentle face massage is performed to relieve symptoms of sinusitis & headaches and encourages good circulation and a glowing complexion.
