Let ‘nature’ work 10 X harder for you? Try A Hot Stone Massage from The Natural massage Company

Ready to try a new treatment where ‘nature’ works 10 X harder for you?  Try a Hot Stone Massage!

A Hot Stone Massage is no longer a treatment only accessible at 5* hotel spa resorts!  We are all familiar with that vision of a restful recipient lying down with stones placed delicately along the line of their back.  The image exudes serene relaxation but in reality, it is somewhat misleading.  That is because a hot stone massage treatment is so much more than this.  An authentic hot stone massage will work the stones a lot harder than this image depicts and here’s why…

Hot Stone 1

The Power of Ten

It is recognised within the Complementary Therapies world that one stone stroke of hot stone massage has the same value as ten hand massage strokes. How? Well, once a stone is nicely heated to a temperature of 50 to 55 Degrees Celsius, (volcanic basalt stones are used as they retain the heat for longer) when they are put to work by an expert massage therapist, the heat combined with the movement (using a variety of techniques) can dramatically help to ease tight, sore muscles while simultaneously treating the area in a way that studies have shown, can be up to ten times more effective than hands alone.  In addition, the hot stones also help encourage a greater sense of wellbeing due to their relaxing natural properties. The heat encourages increased circulation to the muscles while the stone movements carefully ease out knots that have built up to cause ongoing discomfort.

Essentially, when I provide clients with a hot stone massage, the stones allow me to get deeper into the muscles without the need to add more pressure, helping with recovery, relaxation and rejuvenation.

Hot Stone 2

Benefits:

  1. 1. Promoting sleep
  2. 2. Relaxing tense muscles
  3. 3. Aiding pain relief
  4. 4. Improving circulation

Additionally, Cold stones can also be used on the face or after the hot stones have been applied. The cold temperatures help to calm inflammation and soothe hot skin. Cool marble stones are generally used for cold stone treatments as they maintain their coolness due to their natural calcium content.

Centuries Old Hot Stone Massage Therapies

The use of stones for healing has been used for centuries, and stones have been around since the earth was formed.  This type of treatment is thought to have originated in China almost 2,000 years ago. Since then, the technique of using stones for healing has been used in many different cultures, including the Americas, Africa, Egypt, and India. The correct term for stone use is GeoThermoTherapy – Geo referring to the rocks of the earth; thermo relating to the use of heating and cooling effects to stimulate the body’s natural functions; and therapy for healing.  You can find out more about the history of Hot Stone Massages here
